Warfarer has some….issues

I was excited when I heard about the warfarer class because I was having a hard time deciding on whether I should go a melee based character or a magic based character. I planned on using warfarer to get the best of both worlds in exchange for not being able to use the more advanced abilities of each vocations.

Yet, the downsides to warfarer are far worse than that. Yes you get to have up to like 9 weapons, but why would you do that? Assuming you have the rearmament skill equipped, you only have 3 skills available to you. TOTAL!

So not only do you have nerfed base stats, nerfed overall capabilities due to being stuck with no master vocation skills, a mandatory skill that takes up one of your slots, but you only get 4 slots total for NINE prospective items.

I cannot fathom how having more than 1-2 weapons would be worth it when you have only 3 skills to pick from. There is no room for synergy or creativity with this class.

The way they described it, I thought this class would be about finding high synergy between multiple separate skills to overcome opponents based on their strengths. A small opponent? Use the faster thief or fighter skills to decimate them. Large opponent? Use the warrior skills + weapon for outstanding dps. Powerful flying opponent? Swap to sorceror or archer for powerful range attacks, or better yet, use the mages levitation to grab onto the beast and then hit him with a thief powder charge.

But with a limit to 3 actual abilities and only being able to change them at camps/inns/guilds? You can at most be prepared for one of these situations at a time. Any more and you wouldn’t have enough skills to create strategies against different opponents.

I’d take another stat/dps nerf if this class actually accomplished what it set out to do, a high variety high skill ceiling vocation that rewards creativity and noticing skills that could synergize to do maximal damages to the opponent.

In its current state with only 3 skills, you’re at best playing a gimped version of one vocation with maybe one skill from another that has some synergy with everything else depending on the situation. Very little potential for warfarer as a vocation overall imo.

It’s not like the game is harder on warfarer and I’m complaining because I can’t fight with just 3 skills, the game overall is kinda easy. I just want a better warfarer for fun purposes. (And hard mode).

Edit: If you’re on PC check out the skill changer mod and the mod that give enemies more health. It’s making my warfarer experience way better and my overall game experience a bit more challenging. The skill changer mod makes it so that if you press a certain hot key (L1 + Right stick push for me) it’ll completely change your skills to another loadout you have set. It’s instant too and can be done mid battle. Basically like some other games that let you swap to a completely different hot bar of abilities, like elder scrolls online for those whom have played.

So I keep rearmament on both skill tabs and abilities for 3 different vocations spread out across the 6 slots left.
