How much better is Elite Division compared to Division 1

While getting Rivals points today I went on a bit of a crazy winstreak that took me from mid-div 2 all the way to 2 nodes away from the elite division. I am now sitting there wondering if it's worth it to make the push for elite, especially for the extra juiced rewards with TOTY coming up.

I've never made it to the elite division. I am a little worried about the fact (at least to my knowledge) that you can't get demoted from it until the end of the season. I usually get 35 points every week but if it's going to take me an insane amount of games in elite div then I'm happy just staying where I'm at. If anyone has thoughts to share I'd really appreciate it.

TLDR: On the verge of elite div; want to know how significant the skill gap is compared to div1

Update: Made a little push & got in. Might as well try it out for myself.
