Commanders to build when going against precons?

Hey everyone me and my friends recently got into magic the gathering and have all had a blast playing with our precon decks. I love the game and I want to build my own deck since I think it would be a fun experience, however me and my friend’s are broke teens and don’t have access to a lot of options can you recommend some fun budget commanders that are strong but not strong enough to be a bully against precons
