Insurance Costs

Hey all,

I love the N cars and expected a bit of an insurance premium due to the hyundai/kia theft debacle.

I have a mustang worth ~$35k that I pay $200 a month for with full coverage. I got a quote for a Kona / elantra N for about $300 a month. I'm in the NY area. For reference, I'm well aware of insurance factors including age, driving history, insured location etc. Curious about the respective insurance amount compared to others cars for you.

Curious to know if anyone else has been seeing similar percent premiums on these cars (150% / 1.5x the norm). This seems excessive considering the perceived value from an insurer is $25-30k for the car, or maybe that's just about fair given their expectance of damage/theft. Thoughts?

Edit to include that I know the 22+ cars aren't affected by the theft, but I assume insurance is still affected since thieves are stupid and they don't exactly care to check the year before breaking in, and insurance companies know that.
