Gravity Wells

Greetings CMDRs!

I'm returning to the game after a little while and I would still consider myself a new player (60hrs total). I've been playing a lot in the last couple of days and "gravity wells" have been really annoying me. I'll spend 5 minutes in supercruise heading towards a station with no issues at all, and then just as I'm getting to within drop range, I'll enter a gravity well which stops me from decelerating and yeeting me a couple of lightseconds past my intended target and I have to do a go-around. Is there any way to stop this from happening?
