Why are there so many Fleet Carriers around?

I have played ED for a few days now and as there was a community event I made my way to Sirius.

Everything surrounding Sirius is just full of Fleet Carriers, so much so that the navigation panel is 2-3 times its normal size.

Can't I filter all that out somehow?
