First horse search

I’m starting to come to the conclusion that what I’m looking for in a horse is just not available in my price range. I’ve been looking online (with my trainer’s input) for a couple of months, but the market is so overwhelming. I was hoping to stay in the mid-upper x,xxx range, but it seems like most well broke horses are going for 10k plus. Is it like this everywhere? I don’t need anything super fancy, but I am looking for something big, safe, and sound I can ride for fun and dabble in some local shows with. Am I being unrealistic given my budget?
