I’m so torn…need input from current owners!
Long time lurker, first time poster. I’ve been negotiating on a new 2023 Lariat SR, antimatter blue (pic included). Finally got them down to where I want them and have an appointment to sign papers in 2 days. Affordability is not my concern.
I live in a big city, and plan to have a 240v plug installed in 2 weeks to use the mobile charger. All of my normal driving destinations are within 5-6 miles (office, gym, country club, kids school, etc).
My parents have a cabin that is a 2.5 hour drive. About 120 miles of interstate/paved roads and then another 10ish miles of dirt road/back country. There is small town between here and the cabin (70 miles from my house, 60 from the cabin) that has EV chargers in the Walmart parking lot. I suppose I could also level 1 charge while I’m there (usually 2-3 day trips) but worried about jacking up their electric bill (I’m unclear on how much this will actually cost and Google has left me more confused). I know with standard range I won’t be able to make the round trip without charging. I go there about once every 2 months.
Ultimately I’m just worried that stopping for charging, etc., isn’t worth the benefits. That said I’m in love with the truck and also excited about the convenience of home charging and low maintenance. Anyone with a similar experience/situation that can share?
