Gotta Complete Transaction in One Shot?
So I'm corresponding with a seller about a vehicle. $6500 firm. Got questions answered by seller fairly quickly. Vehicle is almost 2 hours away.
Contact seller and ask about their flexibility in coming over to see it. They say they are very flexible any day but Tuesday. Great. So on Saturday I message that I'd like to come and take a look on Sunday around noon. No answer.
Sunday at noon I message again, basically writing "sorry I guess you couldn't do today. How about I come tomorrow (Monday) and have a look and if it is as described I can leave a couple hundred deposit and come back with a trailer and the rest of the cash on Wednesday".
I've been burned in the past and traveled with trailers hours only to find bad or non-existing titles and/or item condition that did not remotely match their description and I'd rather not spend the time renting a trailer from U-haul and making an almost 4 hour round trip to find something wrong and leave empty handed.
Seller said he'd only do the transaction in one visit. Huh? I'm willing to do an almost 4 hour round trip and all he has to do is meet with me for 15 minutes on Monday, show me paperwork and the vehicle and give me a receipt for the deposit on Monday. Then on Wednesday (since seller isn't available on Tuesday) I'm perfectly willing to go to U-haul, do another 4 hour round trip and get the vehicle. All he has to do on Wednesday is give me the paperwork and count my money.
BTW, I never suggested negotiating from seller's "firm" price and never had any intention of negotiating.
Vehicle is nothing super special so I'm just passing since he doesn't seem to respect my willingness to make an extra 4 hour drive just to make sure this deal gets done.
