I’m surprised none has made this LOUS comparison…

Bode is a very similar character to Joel, we’re just on the receiving end of his misdeeds this time. Bode, like Joel, experienced immense loss through the death of his wife. This experience of loss led him to become cynical and do anything he could to avoid experiencing it again. Bode saw the entire world in his daughter, just like Joel did in Ellie. Ultimately, both men(one unsuccessfully the other successfully) attempt to deprive the world of a “cure”( a place actually free from the empire) in pursuit of the safety and security of their daughter over all else. Anyway it’s not a perfect parallel but I thought it was an interesting comparison.
