What Are Your Hot Takes as a Fantasy Nerd?

Mine are...

The Hobbit movies were worth it for: Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, more Gollum, more Gandalf, individual personalities for the dwarves, and even more reasons I can't remember right now.

Sci-Fi/Cyberpunk should have its own section separate from traditional fantasy in bookstores & libraries 😬

Centuries-long age gaps in romantic relationships are fine IF the author isn't solely glorifying it and acknowledges the power dynamic. (The Darkling in Shadow & Bone illustrates my preference perfectly)

Canon-fodder races (orcs, trollocs, urgals, stormtroopers) should be left in the past; objectively evil & irredeemable races are not nearly as interesting as complex antagonists who have reasons for their wrongdoings beyond "the story needed brainless, scary manifestations of the evil in the world".

What are yours??
