When you play "Manager Mode" do you use real managers? Why "Manager Mode" and not "Team/Club Mode?"
For context, I don't consider myself a real fan of the game or the sport.
Do people like managers more than clubs? Are there people who are fans of a team because of the manager?
Like I said, I don't consider myself a fan of the game or the sport so I'm probably unaware of...some things.
I've purchased previous Fifa's hoping to get the experience I used to get in Madden's Franchise Mode - I didn't.
I just realized, yesterday, that Manager Mode is not like Franchise Mode, instead it's just a variation of Player Career Mode.
I could never understand why the stats for the club and players weren't tracked for more than a single season in Manager Mode. I now realize the reason they weren't tracked is because the mode doesn't care about the team/club or the players you sign.
Why?
Why is the focus on the manager and not the team? Besides the fact it's called "Manager" mode, I'm curious why EA even went in that direction instead of focusing on the team/club like "Franchise" mode in Madden.
Like I said, I'm not a real fan of the game or the sport so I might not be aware of some things. As a casual outside observer I've never got the feeling that managers...were anything worth dedicating a video game mode to.
For example, I don't think any Liverpool fans stopped being Liverpool fans when Klopp left. They aren't waiting to become fans of the next team he manages.
I remember trying to figure out which team to use in the first Fifa game I purchased. I decided on AFC Wimbledon when I heard the Wimbledon/MK Dons story after realizing it wasn't worth it to use a MLS team. I doubt the real manager for Wimbledon was even in the game and if they were, I wasn't interested in pretending to be them.
If/when you play the game do you use real managers? Would you do a MLS Road to Glory with one manager and then switch to another to do it with an EFL League 2 team? Are you more interested in seeing a certain team/club be successful or are you trying to add more wins to a real managers resume?
