The Fortnite Festival Icon isn't always going to be someone you like
By now you must've seen all the hate that Hatsune Miku has recieved for being the newest Icon for Fortnite Festival. Some of it is for how she looks, but a lot of complaints are about her being unknown.
The thing is, Miku is a pretty big person in internet culture. You most likely know her or have heard of her if you're an anime fan. Yes, she's not a real person, but she has a lot of music and had a big impact in the 2000s. Either way, you're not always going to know or like the newest Icon that's brought into the game. For example:
I had no idea who Karol G or Metallica was before they got into the game. Metallica was cool, but I didn't really care for Karol. I'd rather have Kali Uchis or someone else.
While I know who Lady Gaga and The Weeknd are, I don't really listen to them.
Billie Eilish and Hatsune Miku have been the only Icons that I actually cared about. I'm a huge fan of both and I've even played one of Miku's rhythm games.
Besides, right now we're in a Japanese themed season. They're obviously trying to get money from anime nerds who like Miku.
