Modding gta iv complete edition in 2024

Hey,

I played gta iv a lot back in 2013-2014.

Used to mod the game a lot with graphics mods, new car models and drift handling.

Back then used a gtx 660ti and gtx 680 with i5 2500k.

Currently i have 8700k@5ghz and 6900xt.

The game is running like crap if i raise distance/density sliders over 60.

I remember this being a issue back in the day too, but the game still feels very bad running.

(no issues with any other games)

Tried to get Fusion fix running a multiple times but not one time i got the game to boot.

Everytime rockstar launcher crashed. Made fresh game installation multiple times, tried downgrading gta iv and also tried multiple different versions of fusion fix, but could not get it to work.

Also made sure i had Direct x and vicual cc+ etc installed and updated.

(latest gpu drivers and windows updates)

So what are the best ways to mod the current steam version of gta iv complete edition version: 1.2.0.59.

Interested in modding the textures shaders, some mods to make it run better? And why doesnt drift handling work anymore? Back in the day it would work just replacing the handling.dat file.

Give me some tips what are the best ways to mod the game in 2024?

Im somewhat familiar with modding skyrim and some other games so i am not a total noob but i couldnt find good recent information anywhere that would help me.
