Are ya'll allowed to use your phone during lunch?

Just a curious millennial here. Phone use was forbidden the entire school day when I was in school, graduated in 2011. Anymore when I'm watching current shows or movies, high-school students seem to make no move to hide their phones so I'm wondering if they're permitted during free periods or lunch? It would make sense at least during lunch seeing as how that should be your time. Not to mention just the difference in how phones have become relied on from when they first started coming out to now. They're practically a computer now so maybe they're allowed for research during a free period? 🤔
