Thoughts on the TV series Somebody Somewhere? I kind of love it.

Positive representation of small town, Midwestern life; interesting examination of geography, family, romance, marriage, career, homosexuality, transexuality, and gender roles. It's oddly unimaginative in regards to age, race, and caregiving, but so amazing in regards to femininity, body image, nontraditional career paths, and friendship.

The best part for me, however, is the portrayal of art-making (in this case, singing) not as a commercial enterprise rated successful by money earned, but as a free, beautiful, life-affirming, communal activity.

Bridget Everett is an amazing performer and her singing is the heart of the series.

Have you watched it? What are your thoughts?
