Induction at 40 weeks

Today I went to the hospital where I am going to give birth , to register. They also.had a scan and told me that if contractions don't start on their own , I will have to be induced on my due date. So at 40 weeks . From what I read most women get induced at 39 weeks , so that the placenta won't deteriorate. Is it fine to wait until 40? My baby is on the smaller side and I use insulin at night for fasting values. Tomorrow I am 37 weeks. I heard inductions hurt more than when it comes naturally. Do you recomand to start curb walking already? I drink 1cup of raspberry leaf tea and have 1 date / day... Whqt week did you give birth ? Thank you!
