Has anyone tried baking soda for deodorizing?

Google says you can sprinkle baking soda on your dog, let it sit, then brush it out.

It seems like this could be harsher on the skin than soap and water though. Has anyone tried it?

I'm trying to only bathe my doodle once a month as recommended, but she gets stinky in between and hates the probiotic deodorizer spray I have. Looking for other options. Thanks in advance! Picture of our last bath day for attention
