15-Month Post-Op Update
Hello all! I felt it was a good time to share an 15-month update to my post-op bilateral inguinal + umbilical surgery.
Here are my previous posts:
9 Week Post-op (Started running again, extremely light gym workouts, so far so good)
3 month Post-op scare (Went a little hard at the gym lol but just took a week rest)
Happy to tell you all that I am pretty much back to my full strength! I am back running 50 miles a week, even PR's a bunch of my races (3:05 marathon, 1:24 half marathon, 17:46 5k, 5:07 Mile) and hoping to sub3 later this year for the Chicago marathon! I am able to do almost all workouts at my crossfit gym and I do not see the need to go too heavy anymore. I feel fully fit and stronger than ever. The workouts I still refuse to do are GHD Situps or box jumps.
For those that go on this healing journey, just know that it is very non-linear within the first year. Be patient. You might get flares 5 months out. Just rest, recover, and move slowly. I feel like it took me 6 months to "feel normal".
Additional context: I am 32, weigh around 152LB, 5'10"
