HxH Ending opinion? *no spoilers please*

How does everyone feel about the HxH ending? I'm on the chimera ant arc and I've heard the last season isn't that great and the ending is different from the manga, since technically the manga has not completed yet.

What were everyone's opinions on how the show ended?

Side note - should I still read the manga even after I finish the anime? Are there any critical differences in plot lines?
