IHSS and social security

Hi! Hoping to get a little insight. My son was just diagnosed with ASD, but he also has cerebral palsy. I’m in the process of getting him Medi-cal to then apply for IHSS. In the meantime, our coordinator at the regional center told us we could apply for social security. Would this hinder getting IHSS? Do any of you have both for your kids, one or the other? Please let me know your experiences with either or!
