Why are most so-called intellectuals anti-BJP?

I have seen a large percent of 'intellectual'(by intellectual I mean, who have pursued multiple degrees, advanced courses, have knowledge in various fields) people I have come across online criticise BJP ruthlessly. I understand BJP has flaws but these people do not mind stating the flaws of the opposition which have led to their downfall and also the positives (in other words, a balanced set of views).

PS: I also agree that there are intellectuals who also support BJP but what I have come across with a fair amount of research is, a large amount of such people criticise the centre without even appreciating the good things which makes a bias.

One reason which is true to a certain extent is most intelligent people are from the south, so their criticism is justified due to their ideological differences with the BJP.

I need a healthy discussion on this topic rather than the usual argument, 'they are all funded by Soros/communists'(which may be true to certain extent).
