Are there any good analyses on the Beatles references in the book?
I can’t tell if these are just Easter eggs cause Wallace liked the Beatles, or if there’s a larger thematic element going on here.
Three big Beatles references that I remember from memory:
Johnny Gentle is a real singer, he played with the Silver Beetles (John, Paul, George, Stu Sutckiffe, and Tommy Moore) as his backup band
Hal has a phone call the narrator says is from Orin where they quote the lyrics to I Want To Tell You
Don Gately heard a tape of Linda McCartney’s isolated vocals from Wings, which was a real bootleg circulating at the time (you can now hear it on youtube)
