Traveler's home insurance. South Carolina. Hurricane Helene loss. I need help.

Like many people making massive claims, this is the first time we have had to do this and I feel like our adjuster is really screwing up. Please help put my mind at ease or light a fire under us to take some action.

On September 27th, our house was hit by a tree during Hurricane Helene. Our house was uninhabitable due to water damage. There were no injuries. We don't have expensive valuables. This is all about the house.

Our adjuster was dispatched from out of state. He seemed nice and like he legitimately wanted to help. He came by about a week after the storm to do his assessment. In the meantime, we were lining up rentals homes, storage lockers, and workers - tree removal, water remediation, builders, designers, etc. Our adjuster said he'd have his report later that week. Spoiler alert... it's January 14th and we still don't have a report.

After racking up $21,000 in expenses, we began getting antsy about reimbursement. He kept saying he'd send it by Zelle. Then something happened with that and he wanted to pay another way. This went on for weeks. Finally we got that first round of reimbursement.

As we're trying to line up contractors for our home, all anyone wants to see is that insurance report. The one we still don't have. Regardless, we had our house packed out and water remediation done. We used the company our adjuster wanted despite me finding one I liked more. The team gutted about 50% of our house to the subfloor and studs and ran dehumidifiers and fans for days on end.

Now the insurance company wants the list of things the water remediation company did so he can draft his report with the latest information. We did a lot of back-and-fort between these two entities and we THINK we're now just waiting for the insurance report.

The builders are not wanting to sign on until they have the insurance report. Our house is vacant and has already had to go through a 2nd round of water remediation due to the roof tarp coming off during a rain storm. We are just sitting here, 3.5 months later, living in our 3rd AirBnB and losing patience. Does this sound right? I keep wanting to speak to our adjuster's superior, but my husband wants to avoid pissing off the guy who has the power to make or break us.

Any advice?
