How do personal injury attorneys fight to get the most money in a car accident settlement?

I’m curious as to what all goes into this as I know the seriousness of the injury is a factor. What are the other factors or things an attorney can do to try and get the most money, or does the settlement solely depend on how bad the accident is? Ps I live in Louisiana, idk if that can change anything
