Is climbing Fuji worth the effort?

So far, I'm planning to take the chance to climb Mount Fuji on my trip in July. I have to admit though, that I still have some reservations about whether it's really worth the effort.

I do think that seeing the sunrise at the summit must be an unforgettable memory. But climbing the mountain itself the day before would not necessarily be, I assume. I don't mind the physical activity climbing it per se. But realistically speaking, it is what it is: a volcano. And its slopes are devoid of any notable flora and fauna. And the view during the ascent is accordingly pretty sparse and boring. Not to mention that it likely won't be a quiet and lonely hike, if literally hundreds of people might do the exact same. Is it really worth the effort? Or could I do something else on that day (and the morning after when descending)

What do you guys think? Would love to hear everyone's honest opinion. Especially from those who actually did it in the past.
