Explaining Fuga/Kamino with MAXIMUM simplicity for the reading comprehension curse victims

1. What is "Kamino"?

Kamino, or Divine Flame, or Furnace, or as the community used to call it "Fuga", is one of Sukuna's attacks! It is a fire attack that has a lot, a LOT of firepower, meaning that it is very strong and it makes things burn!

But it has a problem! It is slow, and has small range! Oh no, whatever will Sukuna do?

2. What do Cleave and Dismantle have to do with this?

Now, kids, when you watch someone cook food, what do they do? They cut the ingredients, and then heat it up.

Kamino is the same! Sukuna can only "heat up" the ingredients (in this case, people) after he cuts (used cleave and dismantle) on them! Pretty bonkers, right?!

3. What is up with the "Binding Vow"? Is this an asspull?

Now, now. First, lets understand what this self-imposed binding vow is at its nature. It is sacrificing one thing in exchange for another for yourself. Nanami restricted his output in his day shifts in exchange for being stronger when he works overtime. Hakari used a vow to sacrifice his arm in exchange for reinforcing the rest of his body well enough to counter the explosion in his fight against Kashemo. This is also the case with the World Cutting Dismantle, which was used once with no chants against Gojo, in exchange for always requiring hand signs, chants and 3 arms to execute afterwards.

Kamino, as I said, is a slow attack. And what can others do to your attack if it is slow? They can dodge it!

Now, Sukuna doesnt want others to dodge his attacks, right? This is why he imposed a binding vow on himself. His sacrifice was that OUTSIDE his domain, Kamino can ONLY be used against ONE target.

Let's go over it once again. This does NOT mean that Sukuna cannot use Kamino outside of his domain. It only means that the Kamino is still slow and low-range, and can only work against ONE target. This was how Sukuna used Kamino against Jogo!

Now, what did he gain in exchange for his sacrifice?

In exchange, Kamino becomes immensely more powerful while INSIDE the domain!

4. How does the Kamino "Bomb" work?!

Here is a step-by-step guide on how Kamino works inside malevolent shrine.

  1. Malevolent Shrine cuts everything into pieces, and there's a LOT of dust formed

  2. Kamino ability activation

  3. The dust, caused by the MS cutting everything, gets covered with Explosive cursed energy.

  4. The Barrier of the Domain closes, sealing everything inside

  5. The flame arrow ignites the explosive cursed energy, which at this point, is almost everywhere. BOOM!!!!!

The explosion itself is very, very strong! Because of the detonation, the shockwaves, the heat, and the fact that everything is sealed in one sphere, this is considered Sukuna's ultimate attack! This is how Mahoraga was killed in Shibuya!

5. If this attack is so good, why didn't Sukuna use it against Gojo? Is he stupid?

Sukuna didn't use out-of-domain Kamino because it has a relatively long windup/chargeup (Gojo would outspeed it) and it would get blocked by infinity even if it hit.

Even without infinity, Gojo would just dodge it, since he's the fastest sorcerer.

Sukuna couldn't use in-domain Kamino because he was constantly changing his domain conditions, as stated by the narrator in 259

6. How did Maki get teleported out of Kamino? Is this an inconsistency?!?!

Because Miwa was with her and held on to her, as Todo teleported Miwa out. Miwa was with her in 258 so she could protect Maki from MS through her simple domain. Maki is considered an object by techniques (and Naoya), so when Miwa was holding onto her, to Boogie Woogie, it was the same as if she were an item of clothing. And since those get teleported, Maki got teleported too.

7. How did Yuji survive?

There's no confirmed answers yet, but the popular headcanon is that Choso sacrificed himself in a binding vow to make a blood barrier strong enough to protect Yuji. Knowing that self-sacrificial binding vows are incredibly powerful, this was most likely the case in order for Yuji to survive an attack like Kamino
