Luos and naming!
Recently, I came across a post here on Reddit where someone was asking for suggestions for African names for girls. This got me thinking about my own tribe and how we've always been known for giving out some of the most insane and ludicrous names you could imagine. Honestly, the creativity (or lack thereof) that goes into naming can be wild, to say the least.
I’ve come across the most insane names from my tribesmen, especially during my primary school years in Nyanza. It felt like every other kid had a name that would either make you laugh or leave you speechless. I don’t know if it’s a regional thing, but the creativity was on another level. I have met the names like Radovan Bishmack, Alvin Ocampo, Jealzine Onyango, Janpaulsen Opiyo, Lindiways Anne, Holden basanta, and myself I was named Baldwin (probably the hardest in this list)
Now, I’m not saying these names are bad at all. In fact, having a unique or hard-to-pronounce name has its pros and cons. My own name isn’t exactly easy either, so I completely get it. On one hand, it makes you stand out, but on the other, you’ll be correcting people’s pronunciation for the rest of your life! It’s a mixed bag, really.
Tell me some of the hardest Names you've ever heard of.
