A little culture shock
A colleague of mine lost his dad. So me and fellow colleagues decided to go help him send his dad off in Machakos county. We call him and he tells us get to this location mtanipata tu hapo. We were like cool. Tukafika tukawapata plus the hearse. That was the first shock coz sisi (Nyar Home) the dead usually sleep at home especially if its the older person. Shock two we got there at 11am na tukakaa hapo hadi 12pm so I was like kwani programme haianzi na mazishi itafanyika leo?
Anyway from the center to the home was like 1hr so tukafika saa saba. Mzee akaingizwa kwa nyumba and the door was locked. So I asked and I was told they let him chill there for like an hour. Sisi kwetu we chill with the dead hapo kwa nyumba. There was no body viewing and not everyone gathered at the grave side (haikua na limitations but some just didnt come) others left before the burial.
I was a little shocked coz kwetu things are so different. Hata hakuna mtu alipiga zile nduru hukua huko kwetu. So hivi ndio hukua ukambani and Id like to hear how burial processes are in your tribe. Ive been to a Kisii one and its similar to ours
