What will be the traffic situation on new year?

I have heard that on the night of Dec 31, kochi will be a traffic lock. Is it true? Also, which will be the routes that are likely to be crowded during that day?

I was looking for a place to be in that day, not crowded like Fort Kochi, but somewhere calm and with few crowd. Any suggestions?
