KRATOM USE IN ALABAMA (I’m under investigation)

So I just got sent home from work in the state of Alabama (Madison county) for possessing a herbal drug called Kratom. It’s in pill form and apparently it fell out of my pocket on accident at work and was seen and now I’m under investigation. I’m confused here on what could happen. I see shops and gas stations on every corner with clear visible signs saying “kratom sold here”. It helps improve cognitive thinking and overall mood boost which works for me working 50 hours a week as a mechanic. The long hours definitely get to me and I’m trying to keep my job so i started using it which helps. The internet keeps throwing mixed reviews on kratom use. Right now it says it’s illegal in the state of Alabama. If that’s so why is it sold? And I’m not even talking about controlled substance that you’d get over the counter or at a CVS, I’m talking gas stations and vape shops all around town. Could I actually get fired or arrested for this? What are my options? They have not assigned me a drug test (I’d be clean anyways) or any consultation…
