saving a victim
My question is: what are you supposed to do after saving someone if they didnt swallow water and are fine after you get them out. My lifegaurd training never covered this. I recently jumped in after a boy who was struggling to keep his head above surface solely because he was too tired to keep swimming in the deep end, I got to him before he was constantly going under and got him out of the pool safely and in good time, I was the only lifegaurd on duty since this was a private group. I kept scanning the pool and asked the kid if he was alright to which he responded yes and he went and sat down by his towel. Parents were not present since this was a church group there were only the counclers, one went to check on him after. I wondered if I could have done something differently or if I could have done more.
EDIT: thank you everyone for your helpful advice! The kid was infact fine, but now I definitely know what to do and how to act better if this sort of incident happens again. I appreciate the people who gave me steps to do and things to say because yes, I did already know I would have to fill out an incident report. Have a good rest of yalls day!
