Adam and compliments

Is it that hard to give your spouse compliments? He’s complaining that Polly is trying to change him but calling someone you supposedly like beautiful etc… surely can’t be that hard of a task. It’s clear he doesn’t like Polly but the excuses as to why he can’t give basic compliments are terrible.
