does anyone else have to literally hurt themselves to calm a flare up?

my flare ups are short lived but very very intense. sometimes if i dig my nails into my skin or pinch myself hard enough i can stop or reduce the flare up. i know why and how it works, it’s got to do with serotonin release and rerouting the nervous sensation. but it’s so painful and i don’t like doing it :(

EDIT: i don’t really need any help, i already know what it is and where it comes from. but any advice is definitely appreciated!!! I’m mostly just curious if others experience this too :)
