For one weapon folks

How do you continue to enjoy your main weapon? Do you just decide at the start to main one weapon and go with it through the entire playing time or do you have other weapons you play with to “cleanse your palate” on weaker monsters?

Genuinely curious since I main lance and decent at db but bad at other weapons.
