Non-randomised loot?
I know there are simple reasons why we have it.
But I wonder what are your thoughts on an mmorpg that doesn't do random loot.
I don't mean random loot like diablo loot, what I mean is loot that is pre-made and is in the tables of enemies or chests that give it.
What if an mmorpg didn't do that? Like if you killed a bandit you could take everything he had. The only rng being what kind of banit was he that influences the loot.
Another aspect would be that loot can be affected by how you kill the mob, like if you use fire damage to quickly kill a plant enemy it wouldn't drop much if at all. But if you killed it with a swift beheading or what have you it would drop all its loot.
So what are your thoughts? I am not planning on making something just ping pongs in my monkey brain every now and again.
