How do you view Orion and Walburga Black?
We don't know a lot about Orion, but the most telling part about him as a character is that he was proud over Regulus for joining the death eaters. We don't know how he and his wife treated each other, but I can imagine that they didn’t love each other and their marriage was one they only did to preserve the pure bloodline
For Walburga we know more about her but it’s still not a lot. We only meet her as a portrait, but we see that she was verbally abusive. We also know that she dissowned her own son and cut him of financially.
Did they treat their sons diffrently? There is a part where Sirius describe Regulus as a "much better son than me" something that he was constantly reminded of. The way I see it, either Orion and Walburga were never above picking a golden child, or they were frustrated with Sirius when he got more rebelious, so they constantly compared him to Regulus who didn’t rebel.
Were they physically abusive? The short answer is that we don’t see it, so we can't know. And because of the gap left by canon, fanfiction likes to expand on them by making them use horrible curses on their own children.
I am fine with fanfiction changing a few things from canon as long as it makes for a intresting story. However, I will say that when a fic has Regulus being forced to become a death eater, it makes it so the choice was not his, but his parents. I don’t doubt that Regulus is the way he is because of how he was raised, but I see him as someone who choose to join
According to Keatcher, his misstres was heartbroken to have her son leave. It does offer more information on how Kreacher views Walburga. It also gives more of an insight to the family dynamic
We don't know what Walburga thought when her son got sentenced to Azkaban. We don’t know much about Orion at all. We also don’t know much about how they were before their sons went to Hogwarts Ultimtley, I don’t see them as people who whould use the cruciatus curse on their children for refusing to join the death eaters, but they are still not good parents by any means. They are pure-blood supremacists who raised their sons to believe it
