I should've chosen a different path

Hi, I just want to express how disappointing our healthcare system here in the Philippines and much worse, how we medical technologist are treated here. In my opinion, we are the most underappreciated HCWs in the country; Overworked but still UNDERPAID and only has a few job opportunities compared to other courses.

I have chosen this career as premed however after I graduated, my family decided that they can't help me fulfill my dream to become a doctor and even I have to settle since scholarships are full this season.

In short, pinagsisihan ko nag medtech ako because of the salary and workload :( kaya ni reremind ko nalang sarili ko na nakakatulong ako sa mga pasyente para kahit papano gumagaan ang loob ko hahahaha pero tinaggap ko na worst career choice talaga ang pagiging medtech lalo na't nasa Pilipinas ka at hindi ka mayaman.

To all incoming freshies, choose your career wisely and always think about the job opportunities each course has once you graduate and if you think medtech is the one for you then go for it pero you have to face the truth that we are probably one of the least appreciated jobs in the country and has one of the lowest salaries especially if you are not working in a government hospital since not everyone will be accepted in a public hospital. Yes, the salary abroad is huge! But to some it may take years to go abroad and is too expensive, kaya choose wisely. 🫶
