Announcing Topster Tuesday

For most of MetalForTheMasses’s being, topsters and other custom charts have been contained to the megathread held on each Thursday. Generally, we found this an acceptable form of restricting what once had oversaturated the subreddit. 

However, it has grown somewhat evident that relegating a type of content to just one officially hosted thread that varies in engagement and generally does not encourage many of our members to give and receive recommendations is limiting beyond the scope of our general intent. In most cases, the purpose of a topster is to ask for recommendations and showcase personally noteworthy artists/albums. The megathread, as it currently is, rarely covers that purpose.

Therefore, we would like to announce Topster Tuesday as a day on which the ban on topsters and other related chart posts is lifted. It is important to note that the ban on auto-generated charts created by last.fm, stats.fm, Spotify, etc. will remain in place on this day and will still be suited to the Thursday megathread while manually-made charts made to garner recommendations and promote discussion are allowed and encouraged. 

The Thursday megathread will remain but its purpose will shift to those who wish to post weekly/monthly charts (autogenerated or not) rather than for every form of chart and statistic. That being so, the megathread will serve as a community listening log.
