My mistake
Went into this Metro PCS store one day because I was looking to start new service. The guy working there, his name was Harry, told me about this amazing deal. He said they had a “limited-time secret promotion” where I could get a brand-new phone with unlimited data for on the flex plan for just $60 a month. It sounded too good to pass up.
Harry said I had to pay $150 upfront to cover the phone, activation, and my first month of service. The catch? He said I needed to pay in cash to “secure the promo.” I thought, “Okay, maybe that’s just how they do it,” ROOKIE MISTAKE.. so I handed over the money, got the phone, and left feeling pretty good about it.
But when the next month rolled around and I tried to pay my bill, they told me my account didn’t exist. I called Metro’s customer service, and they had no record of me ever signing up. Turns out, the phone was some refurbished device, and the receipt he gave me was fake.
I went back to the store, and guess what? Harry wasn’t there. The manager told me there was no such promotion, and they couldn’t do anything about it. That’s when it hit me—I’d been scammed. It’s a lesson I won’t forget: if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
