Tourist question: Does all Miami restaurants automatically applies 20% tip?

As a tourist, I’ve noticed that every restaurant I’ve been to in Miami has added a 20% tip to the bill, and there’s usually no prior notice about it on the menu. Is this standard practice in Miami?

I normally tip 20% or higher, so I don’t mind if the service is decent, but I had one frustrating experience. A waitress impatiently grabbed my card from my hand before I had finished checking the bill. When I reviewed it, I found they had overcharged me $35 for a dish we never ordered. I had to hunt down the server to correct the mistake, and she very reluctantly fixed it but still included the 20% tip for herself.

The entire meal was over $100 for two people, and the service was awful—she didn’t check on us once or even refill our water. I’m wondering if this kind of automatic tipping, regardless of service quality, is common here. Any insights?
