Anyone else have issues getting family medical history from the older generations?

My mother is gen x and my aunt's are boomer. Trying to get medical history is like pulling teeth from them. My mother being the worst offender who straight up lied to me today when I was asking her questions. Thank God for my sister, who unfortunately is only my half, but I at least got some ideas of what might be going on. Sorry for the rambling I'm super freaking angry right now.
