Did anyone else read/see this thread about boys on the Teachers sub this weekend?

I almost posted this as a comment on the “Animals over Children” thread but decided to make a post instead. I don’t often create posts, so forgive me I advance if I do something wrong!

Somehow the “teachers” subreddit keeps coming up in my feed as something I’d be interested in. This weekend there was a thread about how terrible in general the behavior of boys is compared to girls. While I certainly realize that girls and boys and have different behavioral issues, the utter contempt for boys of all ages expressed in that thread has really stuck with me. There were over 2000 comments by teachers mostly agreeing with the OP. It has since been deleted.

On one hand I realize that these are professionals venting on a career specific sub, but as the Mom of a first grade son with ADHD and a 504, it really bothered, saddened and scared me. They were blaming the behavior on everything from parents not caring to Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson.

My husband and I sought out early intervention, therapy modalities and OT. We are trying as hard as we can and our son’s school has been great about working with him (and us). Every year we see a little more maturity and him aging out of the worst of the behavior. Also Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson are terrible. There’s none of that be coming from our home. Did anyone else see or read this now deleted thread? Thoughts if so? Thanks for reading!

Edit: I had previously made the statement “girls mature faster” in this post and have removed it. That statement was made as an opinion based on my experiences as a woman. I do not have a background in education, sociology or psychology and cannot assert this as fact. I did not mean for that statement to be interpreted as an excuse for poor behavior on the part of boys and men. Sorry to anyone who took it as such!
