Yoto Players and Tonis (sp?)—I’m Maybe Kinda Worried

Hey!

I’m a Mom and middle school reading teacher. Like most teachers, I’ve noticed a sharp decline in literacy skills over the past decade I’ve spent in education.

I’ve been watching people rave about these readers and I’m starting to become concerned. Is this replacing those early literacy events (AKA reading a book with a beloved adult) that children so desperately need to be successful readers?

Eek. I don’t know. Food for thought. Also might buy one for my toddler’s birthday to see what the hype is all about.
