You can turn off volumetric fog in MONSTER HUNTER WILDS

Found this on Taiwan forum yesterday, in the game you can only choose between "high" and "low" for volumetric fog, the problem is that it actually make the game look quite washed out.
So there's a workaround to completely turn it off:

  1. Navigate to the game's folder
  2. Find "config.ini"
    1. If you cannot find the "config.ini" file, launch the game at least once and modify any graphical settings. This will prompt the system to generate the "config.ini" file. At this step, you may also create a backup of "config.ini" to restore it if needed and prevent potential errors.
  3. Edit the file
  • Open config.ini file in text editor, press Ctrl + F on your keyboard to search, then type in VolumetricFogControl to locate the line VolumetricFogControl_Enable=True. Next, change True to False to disable volumetric fog completely, save the file.

Voilà! You’ll be able to enjoy a clean and clear view now!

p.s. You should adjust the brightness after making the change for it to look more natural.
