Have I made an enormous mistake...
I have been tossing and turning for hours in my bed researching Mount Rainier summit bids, videos, and news.
I’m an avid hiker, never mountaineer. Due to my lack of experience, I just submitted a hefty fee with RMI for a guided 5 day summit bid of Mount Rainier come the first week of May. I am an avid gym goer and work out to a high level regularly, but needless to say I have some work to do and fast. I have experience with 40lb packs, and plan to train with weighted packs until my day comes.
But here’s my fear.... it’s my fear. I’m already terrified. Have I made an enormous mistake? What if I don’t have “the stuff”? I’m not one for “walking out on the ledge” generally, and I’m concerned that once faced with the crevasses and glaciers that I won’t have the nerve. So.... how do you train your MIND?
(Obviously reading “Into Thin Air” the day I booked my guided trip has been a mistake as all I can think of is disaster).
TLDR: I paid a shit ton of cash for a guided summit bid but now I’m terrified. What to do?
