AFC vs NFC? Fair?

As a UK noob. I’m still learning what teams fall into AFC/NFC. But a question to the American fans, do you think it is fair that some teams fall into AFC or NFC. Like we got Ravens vs Bills in this round but in England that would be a great Final (Super Bowl). I understand in basketball it’s East vs West due to location. I’m just curious.
