Standby only ticket wait time?

Hello,

I'm currently the 4000th in the queue for buying tickets for NYFF, more specifically a showing that is either on the 30th of September or 1st of October for Poor Things, but I think I'll have to calm my chances, because the chances of getting any in the limited availability is smaller than winning the lottery, I think. I had no idea that this queueing system would be used, since I haven't seen anything like this used in Europe haha.

I'm traveling from Romania of all places, and will be visiting New York during that week, and this sounded like a really utterly fascinating experience, especially because of how much I appreciate Yorgos' movies, and was wondering what the wait time would be, like how many hours before should I get in line, and if there's any guarantee that if, for example, I put myself in line at 10am-12pm, I will be able to get a ticket for me and a friend for either of these showings...?
