Can somebody explain me about what is happening? (Spoilers)

First of all, i want to inform you,that my main language isn't English, so if you don't understand what i'm talking about, you can skip this post.

Okay, so right now, in Boruto's anime, we're in stage,where Boruto just joined school. Because anime only released around 15 episodes, i was very thrilled and wanted to know, what happens next.

So i searched up manga's and there are two of them - Naruto Gaiden : The seventh and Boruto : Naruto next generations. I'm really confused, from where should i start reading, because, in Boruto : Naruto next generations, we're very near chunnin exams, where in anime, we're pretty far i would say. So i thought,that i picked the wrong one, so i switched up to Boruto : Naruto Next Generations and i noticed,that Shikamaru has these new "thingies" that can cast jutsu from it and it appears,that they invent it not far from chunnin exams.

So, where should i start? Or maybe i went too far ahead?
