So like, i promise this isnt hate or anything! I’m just curious

To those of you who add hair to objects (like the little spikes of hair kinda like in the images above)

How do y’all perceive that? Like. Is it like actual hair? Is it apart of the object? Something in between? Just genuinely curious!!
